In her work, Elena Kristofor explores human intervention in the landscape, a central theme of the Anthropocene. She examines how landscapes are altered, utilized, and shaped. In addition to physical transformation, her work also focuses on psychological and perceptual aspects. She views landscape as a palimpsest onto which new cultural and identity-forming layers are continuously inscribed. Her own personal history of migration and the associated questions of home and belonging form the starting point of her artistic exploration.
