The Forest and the Child of the Steppe

The Ukrainian steppe spreads out like a scorched canvas, stretching so far that the eye feels it can see beyond the horizon.
The forest constricts, draws the air from one’s lungs, threatens to topple over, to crush. Its monumentality and fragility seem to be synonyms.
In this installation, I allow these two opposites, the forest and the steppe, to enter into a dialogue in which they oscillate between conflict and synthesis.
